Spiritual Hunger

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” – Matthew 5:6 KJV

Have you ever spent your prayer time pouring your heart to God? And soon after, you received confirmation of questions asked during that private conversation? Experiences like that are game changers in the life of a Christian. While you experienced joy for God so faithfully answering your prayer, He is watching and is equally pleased by your obedience and sacrificial time.

Even Jesus disconnected from the world to fast and pray. There are times that we, too, need to pull away from the things of the world and focus on God. “The things of the world” can certainly include more than just food. In fact, in our world, it is more likely to be television, movies, Facebook, Twitter, cell phones and internet that keep us “tuned in” to the world.

Today, deleting that social media app for a period of time is so worth it. You may not know anything about the breaking news your co-workers are talking about during lunch and that juicy burger they’re eating doesn’t even look appetizing. You’re feeling like your walking on water because you and your God are communicating on a HNL (Whole Notha Level!).

Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21(AMPC)

What do you need to deny yourself so that this can be a powerful time in your life? Make a commitment to set aside time to pray and read God’s Word on a regular basis. God will honor your heart and commitment.
